Dayton McNeil puleeze educate yourself. Bernie is for something more like they have in Denmark. Which is rated the best country in the world for business and kicks the crap out of us in every single category quality of life longevity etc. Capitalism in this country is bought and for the rich and needs to be fundamentally changed. If you would turn off Fox news you might learn something. Richard Connor why not educate me. You seem to think my choices of examples of socialist countries is somehow flawed. Perhaps you have better examples? Kenneth Diehl, your willful ignorance is amazing. For you to like Bernie, you would first need to be more than just a mammal that breathes air. You would need to have empathy, logic, common sense, morality and able to understand the 4 things a dental assistant doesn’t play about her suction her feelings her coffee and her pens shirt of social justice. Kenneth Diehl fine I’m happy to educate you. Nobody is talking about controlling the means of production. Bernie included. We are talking about whether things should be privatized or not and how capitalism can be structured to benefit the working middle class. For 50 years we have moved away from that. Since Ronald Reagan increasingly the wealthiest few percents have accumulated the vast majority of the wealth of this country. Basically, the reason most of us think throwing out the socialism boogyman is less than smart is that anybody that wants pure socialism or pure capitalism is off the mark. It’s finding the right balance— pure free market capitalism is an absolute disaster. Capitalism has to be regulated to benefit the majority of people… like it used to do here in the 50s and 60s
Richard Connor if you would read the US Constitution you would see that people here in the US have a right to their property, and our 243 years history has provided every individual the right to the fruits of their labor. Having 256 dictators in Congress telling us how we should spend our earnings, is no advantage over one dictator doing the same. Using Europe; a continent with a history of subjugation to government authority going back hundreds of years is not a good example for America. We fought a revolution to separate from such oppression. That Europeans are fine with it is no surprise. I prefer our system. Live free or Die! It was more than just a PR stunt in 1776, and the way every American should want to live today. Maceno but remember if Bernie doesn’t make the 4 things a dental assistant doesn’t play about her suction her feelings her coffee and her pens shirt for President and Joe does don’t throw your vote away we need you to get Trump out so still vote for top electoral
Kenneth Diehl, you’re very miss informed. Actually, live free or die is European. It’s a saying and mentality started during the enlightenment period, which ultimately gave men like Jefferson confidence to write the Declaration of Independence. A saying made famous in Haiti “Vivre libre ou mourir” by General Toussaint Louverture in the first Slave revolt in the Americas. I suggest you go back and learn more on European history. The method of government you have in Europe right now developed after the first failure of pure Capitalism in Europe in the revolution of 1848 started in France when the poor (proletariat) revolted against the ( Boujoisie) Capitalism system developed during the Industrial Revolution that mainly enslaved kids as child labor to work for nothing or just food. With zero regulation, refusing to pay workers and dying in factories with zero accountability. People like Charles Dickens wrote against it, in tales of 2 cities. We even have a play about that revolution called “ Miserables.” Fredrich Engel and Karl Marx started writing against it also and provided an alternative with “the communist manifesto.” Remember, it was so bad that the majority of these people lost their heads in Europe under the Gullion. They weren’t fighting monarchs. They were fighting injustices caused by the monarch, taxing the poor to make the rich richer. The same thing Republicans are doing to the US today.
