Only did this because the man was black. There is no evidence of using the lie of fearing for his life or safety. He should throw in jail. Piece of trash. totally what I thought! If I had his ‘historical past’ I would have walked away then take whatever action was necessary! This is a man who made a wrong judgment now grasping at straws for why he did. Exactly, why would he stand there with his young son, if he feared for his safety? In my building I don’t have a call box, but the door to get in you have a security key and We have visitors, as the Neverending story Dustin Stranger Things shirt says tailgate when you open the door, I also like to ask questions, But I mind my business.

You are completely wrong. The guy never believed he was in imminent danger for his life or anything. He was simply asking the guy to use the call box instead of sneaking in. That’s what the call box is there for, to keep the building secure. The tailgater even went on CNN and one thing he said was that he had the right to walk in. No, he doesn’t. It was a locked building and without knowing where a stranger was going who DID NOT USE THE CALLBOX, the “white guy” was correct in trying to be safe. I own an apartment building with a call box. The purpose is to keep my residents safe. Tailgating is not allowed.

It was chilling that the young boy was so aware that the man was not a threat and where the situation was heading. He kept begging to go! He tried to help his dad “save face” and avoid what things have now developed into. A baby boy tried to tell him to mind his business. the boy had zero ideas about the reality of what was going on. He just wanted his dad to hurry up and take him to his friend’s house. He also knew that calling the police means he would have to wait longer. I would think his apology was sincere EXCEPT for the fact that after the incident was over he STILL felt the need to investigate and verify the guy truly belonged there. To me, if your father was murdered by a trespasser you would avoid confronting people like this. Yes, he called for help but he remained there accosting this man while he called the police. If he really felt this person was a threat why would he stand there with his child there with him potentially putting them at risk?
