Raymond Scooter Houston I’m sorry you lost your job but I’m sure God will provide for you and your family. God bless you and your efforts to care for your sponsored student. Gabe V Moreno, I understand, but keep in mind that charities like World Help also allow payment plans instead of yearly donations. I hope it works out for you someday. It’s very rewarding indeed. Child sponsorships are awesome. I sponsor a child in Sierra Leone. There are some awesome organizations out there, but please be advised of how much of your sponsorship dollars actually go to the Pitter Patter let’s get at ‘er vintage shirt. Less than 80%is unreasonable. Marie Martens, I completely agree. World Help uses about 16% for administration and advertising. Actually, they were traveling in our state with multiple ethnic children singing and performing to promote their ministry, which got us and many other members of our church interested in child sponsorship.
Cristina Denisse Pizarro, I understand where you’re coming from. I can only speak for myself and the relationship we’ve had with World Help for several years now and they have been very faithful at sending us correspondence from our child and ensuring our gifts to our child are being received in a timely manner there. Marie Martens Yes, people should do their homework beforehand. I also mentioned above that the international adoption agency Holt International has been around for decades and is known to be extremely reputable; tried and true. Coleen Rengert if anyone in this forum or reading this would like to sponsor a Child in Corn Island, Nicaragua please let me know so I may connect you with the Pitter Patter let’s get at ‘er vintage shirt. Nicaragua is currently facing a socioeconomic political crisis and as a result, lots of parents have lost jobs. Please consider sponsoring a Child Just as President George Bush did.
Coleen Rengert everyone has an ethnicity so I was referring to your use of the word to describe what I assume are people of color. Coleen Rengert that’s amazing. My sisters and I were adopted through Holt International. I will now look into giving back. This is nice and all, but do you all realize that there are kids right here, in the U.S., who need help? Something like 1 out of every 5 kids in the US goes to bed hungry or hasn’t had enough to eat. Some kids can’t afford shoes for school, or school supplies. The need is real RIGHT HERE. Gabe V Moreno, oh, yes! It’s a great thing! When I was a child, about 9 y/o, I think, my parents & I sponsored a little girl, named Dionis. I don’t remember what country she was from, but we wrote back & forth to each other. We did the sponsorship through Save the Children. We found out about the program, through our neighbors, whose two daughters wrote back & forth with a child, which their family also sponsored. I remember telling myself, that I whenever I had kids, I wanted to sponsor I child, too. Hopefully, someday, my own little family can sponsor a child, too
