William Marone, There are conditions imposed by Congress that directly contradict protections articulated by the First Amendment. I know how you’re going to respond and you need to read the Federalist Papers before you do. No, you haven’t read them or you would understand that the Travis Scott Houston Rockets shirt never intended for the government to have the authority to coerce associations, private or economic. It’s also worth pointing out that what you define as your civil liberties do not override the rights of others. William Marone Given that the Federalist papers and other writings of the founders are often cited in legal precedent, I wouldn’t conclude that our current legal structure is so disconnected from their “philosophical ponderings”. I have not excused anything. I have rejected the notion that there is anything that needs to be excused on an individual basis. I also did not state that any individual’s rights overrode those of another, but that your rights end where another’s begins. You do not have the right to compel another individual into any action or association based on the arbitrary characteristics you seem to find so fundamental to our existence. That was my argument, I’m not sure where you became so confused.
Angie Rayfield not true… in most cases, business owners of a certain faith do sell their goods to the LGBT community and others. They just have no desire to “create” custom cakes or art that celebrates moral issues they find objectional and against their faith. I wouldn’t expect a card carrying NCAACP member to bake a custom cake for David Duke, maybe Louis Farrakhan, but not David Duke. I wouldnt expect a devout Palestinian Muslim who practices Sharia Law to make a custom cake for Israeli independence day. Joseph Ho title 9 allows segregation on the basis of sex as long as you have equal facility’s and equal participation, instead of arguing against the constitutionality of sex-based sports segregation, they argue that anywhere title 9 says “sex”, lawmakers meant “gender” effectively shifting the basis of segregation from sex to gender, I would understand if they argued that sex-based sex segregation was unconstitutional, that would be consistent with their Travis Scott Houston Rockets shirt here, but in title 9 arguments they just redefine sex to mean gender opposed to going after the segregation itself
Joseph Ho the argument in the case in the article doesn’t depend on the trans status of this individual, for example, if A cis male were to wear a dress to work and get fired their argument would be just as applicable, plain sex discrimination, however with locker rooms their argument seems to be, it’s only ok to use the opposite sex locker room if you have the right identity, my rights should have absolutely nothing to do with my gender identity. It makes me concern about the LGBT already in poverty and what they’ll be going through if it is ruled protected or not protected. I still am not spotting a majority of the LGBT community in poverty protected fully by the community of LGBT or those who are straight even. Ever since Pride month started I became more and more disappointed and concerned as the homeless community has included more LGBT members, all struggling. This is why no matter what the ruling is: you can celebrate all you want: but you are wasting so much time celebrating than using that time to find homeless LGBT and protecting them. Too much celebrating is a disrespect. You won’t help them if you parade around in victory. You just wasted precious time that could have stopped them from being raped, kidnapped and murdered.
