Holly Smith, you are absolutely delusional! You have no idea the positive impact an SRO can have at a school. If you do not work at a school or have any educational experience, you have zero evidence to talk. Stop promoting your lies. You are the exact reason why kids are able to be disrespectful and think that rules and laws don’t apply to them and end up in prison! Just stop! Most SRO is super helpful for the communities that they serve! Mike Helm the principal was wandering around following this child for 30 minutes unable to do anything to take control of the White Claw Santa Claws hard seltzer Christmas 2020 shirt. I imagine the principal has more pressing matters to take care of. The mother needs to take responsibility for having a misbehaved kid and do some discipline at home. Mary Dunckley sped kids go to lunch too. And if they break the law in the real world they get arrested sped or not. Now what this officer did is ridiculous, but we need our SRO’s because of more serious things like my 11 years old son getting punched in the face by guessing what…an ED kid in sped. And he was rightfully arrested and prosecuted. A kid’s disability doesn’t mean they can break the laws. Holy shit. Over milk! Seriously!? This is exactly why statistics are showing that resource officers are making situations worse and creating criminals out of kids. They better sue. I don’t care if this child acted out every day, there are other forms of resolution. Not grappling 11 years old and trying to arrest her. Damn!
Blake, did you read the article? He didn’t do this because of the milk, he did it because he claims she assaulted the principal and vice-principal. The ACLU is just trying to get reactions from people by using a misleading caption, because they know people won’t read the article and will react to what the caption says. Heather Sanger No I know what he used as a means to execute the arrest. He had to have a cause. So, before you assume that probable cause was assault, you would have to prove that she committed assault. Therefore, she does not. The incident was over “milk”, the reason to detain was “assault”. Step down! Heather Sanger also from my post one would inference that the actions were disobedience, however, the response was not proportionate to the crime. The video did not show assault and that was the basis that was one, fraudulent and two again not proportionate for a minor. There simplified. If a child is taking more milk, shouldn’t that raise concerns about hunger in her home? Or other White Claw Santa Claws hard seltzer Christmas 2020 shirt? I know students that did similar things bc they didn’t have food at home and took for their siblings. Clearly we have a problem in this country with lunch debts /hungry children. Nothing about his conduct is justifiable
Jerry Laska disgusting of a country that claims to be the richest in the world. Although China sure is the one since our debt to them is huge, but the few rich here is bottomless. Jennifer, I did read the article. And maybe her behavior was not best by throwing one of the milk, but she is a child and I’m sure was embarrassed when someone called her out on taking the milk. Her reaction/behavior signals an issue and I would hope that a professional in our education system would be able to identify an issue and walk over and say what’s happening before punishing her. The bottom line is they are children, not robots. yes they need rules as a discipline, but more importantly, they need compassion and dignity. we have to treat them as individual children with valid feelings, emotions, and home lives. Just think of how an act of kindness during one of your “bad days” turns your whole day around. Jessica Anne Turner, I worked in public schools for almost 30 years. We underwent non-violent crisis intervention training every year. I can’t understand an SRO not using non-violent techniques to de-escalate this situation.
